The Modern Italianate

This Italianate home in Church Hill is probably the house that has stretched me the most of all the homes we have built. Italiante by nature is outside of my wheelhouse but I wanted to build a house that matched the neighborhood’s character on the exterior while adding in a little more of my personal style on the inside. We renovated two Italianate homes last year (you can check those before and after pics here and here) but I’ve never had to design the exterior of an Italianate from scratch.

I wanted to exaggerate some of the traditional exterior features of the home to give it an updated feel. I also think when you go larger for things like doors, lights, stairs, and columns, you can make a home feel a little larger and more luxurious.

I think my personal style and taste have grown a lot in the last year and are transitioning away from traditional into more of a California boho modern style which I think is reflected in the interior of this home. Anyways! Enough blabbing. You guys came here for the pics! Happy scrolling! And as always the sources are at the bottom of the page.
